Sullins Academy Students Give Back with Jump Rope for Heart Program

During the month of February, Sullins Academy participated in the American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart program. Through this community service project, our students were educated on the importance of heart health while having a great time jumping rope. Throughout the campaign the students raised money for the American Heart Association (AHA) to fund research and provide educational materials to lower the risk of heart disease and stroke.

This project has allowed Sullins Academy to build school spirit, spread AHA awareness, and teach our students the importance of giving back to the community. The AHA’s program also allowed each student to create a custom website to raise funds - giving them ownership of the process and teaching them valuable lessons on goal setting and responsibility.

Sullins Academy has participated in this program for more than 15 years, and this year the 60 students who actively participated raised $5,679! The top three family fundraisers will get a chance to “Slime” the Head of School Roy Vermillion, P.E. Teacher Kim Long, and Middle School teacher Amy Morris, at a school-wide assembly on April 13.
