High School Placement

Sullins Academy graduates attend a variety of high schools in the local area and beyond. Area schools include:

  • Tennessee High School (Bristol, TN)
  • Virginia High School (Bristol, VA)
  • John S. Battle High School (Washington County, VA)
  • Abingdon High School (Abingdon, VA)
  • Dobyns-Bennett (Kingsport, TN)
  • Science Hill High School (Johnson City, TN)

Graduates have also been admitted to various selective boarding schools in the greater region. These include:

  • Baylor School  (Chattanooga, TN)
  • McCallie School (Chattanooga, TN)
  • Chatham Hall (Chatham, VA)
  • Woodberry Forest School (Madison County, VA)
  • Episcopal High School (Alexandria, VA)

Former Sullins students have earned notable distinctions in their educational careers. Recent graduates have been awarded significant scholarships to boarding schools, have served as valedictorians and salutatorians at regional high schools, and have matriculated to distinguished colleges and universities such as Duke University, the University of Virginia, and William and Mary. A 2007 Sullins graduate was named a Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia, the University’s most generous and prestigious scholarship.

For the 2014-2015 academic year, high school credit in Algebra, World History, Spanish and Latin can be earned in 8th grade at Sullins Academy
